Mustangs Across America - Day 5, Bossier City, LA to Birmingham, AL.  The end of the cruise.

I have to admit, this has been one fantastic trip.  Even with the bad weather and cool temperatures all the way, it was great to hit the open road with so many other people with common interests.  The day started in Bossier City with the driver's meeting.  The first stop was 50 feet away, a Starbucks - not pictured.

A few of the clubs and organizations represented. . .

Lunch was not the usual planned event.  Ken, Sandy & I stopped at a Sonic.  Real "Car Hops" wearing roller skates.  We ate at the tables outside just to get out of the cars and stretch for a while.  One of the Car-Hops was from San Diego and glad to see some California folks.  She hasn't been there that long because she hasn't developed a Southern Drawl yet.  Ya'all know what I mean?

We crossed from Lousiana to Mississippi just around noon and made it into Alabama by 4:00 local time.  Notice the camera crew on the bridge over the Mississippi River - there were a couple of cars heading their way from the State Police.  Not a very bright move.

We ended the cruise at the Rivertown Galleria with a gathering of the cars.  By the time I made it to the mall, most of the cars had left for the hotel in Birmingham.

If any of you are drifting fans, we had the top drifter in the world on the cruise, Vaughn Gittin, Jr.  He races a 2010 Mustang GT with 650 hp for the Falken Tires team.  He has a web site at http://www.vaughngittin.com  Check it out.  I had about a 20 minute conversation with him following the interview.  Very nice guy who is really into his sport.  He finished 6th in the season opener last weekend.  I want his job!

Well, that about does it for the pictures.  I head for Denver tomorrow to spend a few days with my sister.  Hope you all enjoyed the daily photos.  Ken should have more to show and I will get them from him after we get back from the trip.  Drive safe, drive often!
